BBC3 – Designed for the digital age


New Year, new treats. Amongst them the new BBC3 logo – a case of pushing forward whilst looking backwards, with a distinctive ‘app’ friendly design that at the same time incorporates good old fashioned roman numerals. Although the logo has come up against the usual predictable criticism, we are pleased to see the BBC choosing design that has clearly been developed for digital use.

Their Head of Marketing, Nikki Carr, puts it perfectly: ‘In an age of smartphones we needed a whole new system that fits the digital world, not something analogue just shoehorned into it. We needed to develop something that worked on a TV screen and as an app icon.
